Meetings:
From January the meeting will be the second Tuesday each month, The next meeting will be on the
11th July, 8pm-10pm, venue to be confirmed (please contact a committee member for confirmation).

High School Group:
Our High School Group is run by Gill and Wendy, who both have children who have had a diagnosis of cancer and have been actively involved in CHICS for many years. Our High School Group is open to all High Schoolers, their siblings and their friends. Our goal is to provide a place where our High Schoolers can interact, make friends, have peer support and generally just enjoy themselves to the max!

We are a friendly, inclusive group and a great place for High Schoolers to get together!

We have our regular evenings on the last Friday of every month from 7 to 9pm at the Brightside Centre, Molyneux Drive, New Brighton, CH45 1JT. The Brightside Centre is a great space with fantastic facilities including a recording studio, a main room with table tennis, TV’s, and craft area etc. We also have a kitchen and chill out area. Our next meeting will be on the 28th April.

We run lots of activities every month, from football to baking and everything in between. We also have a number of outside events and trips, from Chester Rocks music festival to canal boating, and anything else our High Schoolers fancy (within reason).

Bereavement Book:
CHICS have a bereavement book which is kept in the Alder Centre. If anyone requires a form to place an entry in the book, please contact the office on 0151 523 8886.

Wirral Bereavement Group:
Our Chairperson, Sharon, is starting up a Wirral Bereavement Group, if you would like to join her and a few of our families can you ring Sharon on 0151 327 4070, or contact her by e-mail.

Newsletter:
From now on we will be sending the newsletter out every other month to keep costs down. We would welcome email addresses in order to save on postage costs. Please email Rachael if you are happy to receive the newsletters via email only.

Items for Sale:
Sharon has various CHICS items for sale, if anyone would like to purchase any, or can sell them within their work place please contact Sharon or Amanda: - mini chicks at 1.00 each, CHICS beakers/mugs at 1.50 each.

Collection Boxes:
CHICS now have a supply of collection boxes. We are requesting member's to go in to their local shops and ask if they can leave a box to be filled. If you can place a box please contact Kirsty.

Standing Order:
We have had a couple of requests recently asking if it is possible for our families to set up a Standing Order direct into our CHICS account. The benefit of this means that you can pay as little or as much as you want a month into this account, and then if there is a particular trip that you are interested in going on, some or all of the cost will have already been paid. If you would be interested in setting up such an account with us or would like any further details please ring our treasurer Kirsty on 07855488092.

Alternatively, if you have any family members or friends who would like to sponsor us on a gift basis, they too can set up a Standing Order and contribute as much or as little as they wanted and this would help us to continue to subsidise future trips in the future.

Just Giving:
People can pay monthly for trips or money as and when you have it. Please let Kirsty know if you make a payment. The website address is www.justgiving.com/wirral-chics. This can also be used for those organising or attending an event when donating and will make it easier for everyone.

Facebook:
We now have a Facebook page – if you search “Wirral CHICS” you will find us.

Knitters:
We have some wool but are looking for people to knit for us! If you or someone you know would be able to knit for us, please contact Sharon.

Fund Raising:
I would like to try and ask for your help in raising funds for CHICS, a few companies these days do have money set aside to give to charities, and we would be very grateful if you/your friends could possibly ask your workplaces if they could bear CHICS in mind if/when they do fundraising/donating in the future, as this would be a massive help to us.

We do have a few fundraising ideas planned for the year ahead and have been informed that if any of our families work for Barclays Bank, then Barclays will match any funds we manage to raise, if you do work for Barclays or any of your family members, and don’t mind helping with some fundraising then please get in touch, you can ring the Wirral CHICS office on 0151 327 4070.

IF YOU KNOW OF ANY FETES OR EVENTS WHERE WE CAN RUN A CHICS STALL TO RAISE MONEY PLEASE LET SHARON OR KIRSTY KNOW.
