Meetings:
Meetings are usually held the
second Wednesday of each month at St Hildeburgh's Church
Centre, Stanley Road, Hoylake at 8.15pm. Please note that
our next meeting will be on the 18th January 2012 and
will be linked with our Christmas meal at the Green Lodge
in Hoylake, if you would like to go then please get in
touch with Caroline so she can book the relevant places. The High
School Group is for CHICS youngsters 11+ years both
patients and siblings. If you are 11 years and over and
are interested in joining them for some fun please
contact Caroline or Gill Jones for more details.
Newsletter:
If
you would like to receive your monthly CHICS newsletter
by e-mail as opposed to "snail" mail, please
contact Caroline with your e-mail address. Not only will
this save CHICS money but also barring accidents your
letter should never be delayed by the post.
Bereavement
Book:
CHICS
have a bereavement book which is kept in the Alder Centre.
If anyone requires a form to place an entry in the book,
please contact Caroline.
Storage
Space:
Does
anyone have a garage or dry storage space where CHICS
could store donations of items for tom bolas or bric a
brac? The CHICS shed is starting to bulge at the seams
and we need to find additional storage. If so please give
contact Caroline.
Items for
Sale:
Caroline has
various CHICS items for sale, if anyone would like to
purchase any, or can sell them within their work place
please contact Caroline: - mini chicks at £1.00 each, CHICS beakers/mugs
at £1.50 each.
We
also have quite a few Christmas cards for sale left over
from previous years and are now selling these at a
bargain price of £1.00 for a
pack of 10 cards. We also have Notebooks for £1.00, Pens at
60p and
Pencils at 50p if
anyone would like to purchase or could possibly sell any
of the above, please contact Caroline.
Collection
Boxes:
CHICS now have a
supply of collection boxes. We are requesting member's to
go in to their local shops and ask if they can leave a
box to be filled. If you can place a box please contact
either Caroline or Helen.
Do Your Bit:
Everyone can "do
their bit" for the environment and raise money for
CHICS at the same time. We are collecting Aluminium
drinks cans for recycling, so save your cans and either
bring them along to the monthly meeting or bag them up
and when you have a large sack full give Caroline a call.
Fund Raising:
I
would like to try and ask for your help in raising funds
for CHICS, a few companies these days do have money set
aside to give to charities, and we would be very grateful
if you/your friends could possibly ask your workplaces if
they could bear CHICS in mind if/when they do fundraising/donating
in the future, as this would be a massive help to us.
Recent
fund raising event at the Kiosk in Arrowe Park Hospital
raised just over £100, many
thanks to Chris McCourt, Jan and Michelle Lloyd for their
help on the day.
We
would also like to add a big thank you to Ann Dean, one
of our CHICS grandparents, her family and friends for the
coffee morning they held, which raised the tremendous
amount of £507.00 for CHICS
funds.
And
a big thank you to both Kate and Patrick Mooney and Joey
and Caroline Wilson for holding a charity night in aid of
CHICS and raising a joint total of £900.00, this is
very much appreciated - thank you.
The
coffee morning held at Melrose Hall raised a grand total
of £323.60, we
would like to send a big thank you for all of you who
donated, attended and helped on the day many
thanks.
Bring and
Buy Sale:
We
are trying to organise a Bring and Buy sale, hopefully in
March next year, so if you have any gifts or items that
you think may be suitable for this event, we would be
very much appreciative for your donation of the same.
Legoland
Trip:
Many
thanks to those of you who went on the Legoland trip, I
think a good time was had by all, even though the weather
let us down a bit on the Sunday. I just want to thank
everyone who went, for your prompt arrivals and making
the weekend just so enjoyable, and also a special thank
you to all the children who were so well behaved and a
real credit to CHICS. We are hoping to arrange
something similar for next year, so if you couldnt
make it this year, maybe we will see you next year.
Dates for
your diary:
We have
managed to secure tickets to see Shrek the Musical in
London on 24th March 2012, so
again, if you have booked to go, then please let Nikki
have your balance for this as soon as possible, the cost
is £120.00 per
adult and CHICS children will go free. CHICS has to pay
for this no later than the end of January, therefore we
need your monies BEFORE the end of January please.
Now,
you may think we are looking too far into next year, but
we want to put on trips that YOU would enjoy, therefore
we need YOUR help with ideas for arranging them, so if
you have any suggestions of places we could go as a group,
then PLEASE do not hesitate to get in touch, we really
would appreciate your input into these activities. Some
of the trips we have in mind for next year are:-
- The
X-Factor which is at Liverpool Echo Arena on 27th
February 2012, if anyone would be interested in
going, then contact Amanda.
- Blists
Hill, the Victoria Town in Telford, were you can
meet the Victorians in their shops, cottages and
workplaces, see all the animals, enjoy a horse
and cart ride or a cone of traditional Fish and
Chips!!
