| Nijmegen March in Holland | |
|
|
A number of Security Specialists from MBNA recently completed the Nijmegen March in Holland. The volunteers undertook the gruelling 200Km (112 Mile) Nijmegen Military March and completed it within 48hrs. The March consisted of an early start at 0400hrs and competitors had to finish by 1700hrs each day. The heat was unbearable and reached temperatures of 32 degrees. Blisters were plentiful and fluid intake was given priority throughout the day. A total of 48,000 people entered and 40,000 people completed the March. The majority being from Military Teams and enduring the lesser distances of 30km and 40km each day. The volunteers who took part are: David Kinnair, Dave Thomas, Gareth Thomas, Ian Griffin, James Thomson-Slaven, James Dawson and Billy Haynes - Support and Moral Booster. We wish to extend a BIG thank you to all those in MBNA who supported their fund-raising venture. As a result, they are able to present CHICS with a cheque for £6,100. |

Fundraiser Eddie went to Lowdham Prison Nottingham on 23rd October 2003 to collect a cheque on behalf of CHICS for £1690.78. A number of the prisoners had completed a 225 mile sponsored bike ride to collect funds in the name of Ben Cunningham (Liverpool group member). Our thanks go to the three main participants Paul McCarten, Anthony Seddon and John Lee. |

International Childhood Cancer Day 2004 On the 15th of February 2004 CHICS held a Great Balloon Race. The balloons were launched outside the Oncology Unit at Alder Hey Hospital. Before the ballons were launched we were given a display of football skills and tricks which everyone enjoyed. Just after 2pm the balloons were let loose. CHICS had originally hoped for around 2000 balloons, but thanks to everyones generosity CHICS were able to release nearly 5000. After the balloons were released we were treated to a display of juggling, before going to the NALGO club in Alder Road for some more entertainment and a buffet. The pictures on the left were taken on the day. The last picture is of (left to right), Wendy Peckham, Jayne Hollins and Lucy Williams, all patients cutting the iced cake at the NALGO club. We would like to thank everyone for taking part and for turning up. |
MBNA Party 29-2-04 Hi Barry I am sending you some photos from the MBNA party we had on the 29/2/04. A good day was had by all. The party theme was "Finding Nemo" and the kids as well as the adults really enjoyed it. There was a bouncy castle, a clown doing balloons, playing games, a disco, video's to watch and a lovely party dinner. Thanks to all the staff at MBNA my little boy had a really good day, and thanks to CHICS and Erica. With love Linda Lavender and family from Chester xx |
| Charity Night 11th June 2004 Our thanks go to Lisa and Rob Hickson (seen here as Fred and Wilma Flintstone performing a rather different version of "I Got You Babe") at the recent charity event they organised for the Liverpool group. They raised a fantastic £2115.17. Once again thanks to you all who either attended or donated raffle/auction prizes. Eddie Hincks, CHICS Co-ordinator. |
